Paphos, located on the southwest coast of Cyprus, is the birthplace of the ancient mythical Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. According to myth this is the place where Aphrodite rose from the sea and was carried on a large shell at the rocks known today in Greek as “Petra tou Romiou”, a famous tourist spot on the outskirts of the town.

The region combines a charming coastal holiday resort with spectacular mountainous countryside and offers visitors a taste of the island’s history and culture with its many archaeological sites.

The main tourist area, known as Kato Paphos, features an attractive and relaxing harbour with a famous medieval fort which hosts summer festivals, and an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes. There is a great selection of activities for all ages, including four golf courses, diving, a waterpark, jeep safaris, boat trips and walking trails along the unspoilt Akamas Peninsula.

There is also a number of inviting beaches in the area, most with a mixture of golden sand and pebbles, with the most popular being Coral Bay, just a 10-minute drive from the tourist centre.

Paphos has a diverse selection of accommodation ranging from budget-friendly apartments to luxurious beachfront hotels and private villas, offering all the amenities required for a relaxing holiday. Paphos International Airport is located on the outskirts of the town and is linked directly by a highway to and from the city centre and tourist areas.

There are four main districts in the Paphos region – Paphos Town, Geroskipou, Pegeia and Polis Chrysochous and each has its own collection of unique attractions for visitors to discover. Whichever you choose, a warm welcome and memorable atmosphere are guaranteed.
